In 2019, Naren Arulrajah was running Ekwa Marketing, a agency working with veterinary practices across the country. He noticed a pattern: practice owners had incredible clinical expertise, but many struggled with the business side. They knew how to diagnose and treat animals brilliantly, but pricing strategies, team management, marketing, and financial planning remained mysteries.
The problem wasn't lack of intelligence or effort. It was that there was nowhere to learn the "business of veterinary medicine." Veterinary school teaches clinical skills. Post-grad education deepens clinical knowledge. But who teaches practice owners how to build sustainable, profitable, fulfilling businesses?
Naren decided to change that. He started the Veterinary Business Podcast in his spare time, interviewing successful practice owners and industry experts. The early episodes were rough, unpolished, and full of technical hiccups. But they resonated. Practice owners were hungry for this conversation.
From those early podcast episodes, something bigger emerged: a community. Listeners reached out. They wanted to connect with other owners facing similar challenges. They wanted resources, templates, and tools. They wanted mentorship. They wanted to be part of something larger than their individual practice.
That community need became the Veterinary Business Institute. What started as a podcast is now a thriving platform where 15,000+ practice owners, managers, and veterinary professionals connect, learn, and grow together. We've delivered over $3M in partner savings. We've hosted hundreds of events and workshops. We've shared the wisdom of hundreds of successful practice owners.
And we're just getting started.
